Compute the derivative of a given function

Compute the derivative of

$f(x) = x \tan x.$

We recall from a previous exercise (Apostol, 4.6 Exercise #25) that $(\tan x)' = \sec^2 x$ . Then, using the product rule we have,

$f'(x) &= \tan x + x \sec^2 x.$
